Snap Happy

24 Dec

Today I arrived at my parent’s house in rural South Australia, after a long drive from Albury-Wodonga to Adelaide, then a hectic social schedule for my one pre-Christmas day in Adelaide. I’m exhausted! But, not so exhausted that I couldn’t ride around town with my Dad in the local fire truck, taking Santa to visit all the girls and boys. It’s a fabulous tradition that I’ve participated in twice now, where my Dad drives the fire truck with Santa in the back, and we form a procession consisting of the local police car out front, playing Christmas carols, the fire truck, and then a collection of older cars, all filled with smiling, waving people, wishing the townsfolk a very merry Christmas.

So, on that note, I hope you and your families have a very happy and safe Christmas tomorrow, and may you dance joyfully under boughs of holly to your favourite Christmas tunes all day. Merry Fizzmas! xx

Rudolph the red-nosed cupcake

30 Nov

Last week a slightly creepy yet very funny fellow (or should that be the other way around?*) that I follow on Twitter posted a photo of what he believes to be the cutest cupcake ever. I agreed with him, and so vowed to myself that I would make some of my very own Rudolph cupcakes sooner or later. Seeing as how I’m quickly running out of free time before the big move, it turns out that the opportune time was sooner!

With strawberry licorice for their noses, mini M&M’s for their eyes, and pretzel sticks for their antlers, I think these Christmas cupcakes are too, too gorgeous. I can’t wait to take them to work today and spread the fizzy Christmas cheer!

*don’t worry folks, he’s one of my best friend’s sister’s husband. We’re practically related and he knows I love him… Or at least like him whole-heartedly.

Gifted

27 Nov

Last Sunday I finished my family Christmas shopping (can you believe it??) and yesterday I finished wrapping. I know my lead up to Christmas this year is going to be very hectic (and fun!), so it was best that I got in early. I’m also a little chuffed with myself over the fact that every gift I bought has been sourced locally, supporting the businesses and the people within my local community. To be honest, this isn’t something I set out to do intentionally, but I am glad that it turned out that way.

Having said that though, have you seen Ez’s (of Creature Comforts) Gifted Magazine?? If you haven’t, and if you still have some gift buying to do, you really should check it out! I have been mooning over quite a few of the lovely gift ideas that she has put together in over 100 pages of amazing suggestions for all your loved ones and if, like me, you are a fan of avoiding bustling stores and prefer the peace of your laptop, a cup of tea, and your jammies, then this gift guide could very well provide you with everything you need with handy links (and sometimes discount codes!) to get your shopping completely done from the comfort of your couch. How nice would that be?!
